The Challenge
Redpath and Company, a CPA firm serving growth-focused businesses, found themselves at a common crossroads: They were growing fast but lacked confidence in their marketing approach, and they weren’t sure if they had the right person in the marketing seat. With no clear roadmap, defined budget, or consistent execution rhythm, leadership struggled to evaluate the impact, or even the direction, of marketing efforts. With the resignation of their marketing director, Redpath had a choice to make: rehire a role that they didn’t fully understand (and risk getting it wrong again) or bring in a strategic partner with expertise in building marketing teams from the ground up.
The Solution
Redpath’s Managing Partner had heard about Authentic® through several trusted connections, instilling confidence in the firm’s decision to engage expert help. Following an initial discovery call and intake process to understand Redpath’s needs, Authentic matched the firm with a CMO with deep expertise in financial services, regulated industry, and team development – and onboarded the CMO within days.
Over the first several weeks, the CMO built a strategic roadmap to align the marketing strategy with the company’s vision and growth plan. With prior marketing activities still ongoing, and several strategic initiatives now planned, the CMO recommended that the firm hire a full-time senior marketing coordinator. This full-time role would report to the CMO and support day-to-day execution, project management, and collaboration with agency partners – including the new agency partner recommended by the CMO from within Authentic’s Ally Network.
With new clarity in hiring requirements, roles, and responsibilities, Redpath was able to effectively build a “full stack” marketing team, including strategic leadership, daily project management, and specialist skills – creating the right balance of leadership, execution, and momentum.
Authentic’s CMO is now one year into the engagement, and the Redpath team is seeing the results of having the right leader in the seat:
- Marketing Foundation Build-Out: Led discovery and planning to develop an initial Marketing Action Plan and Roadmap to align the company’s EOS® structure and quarterly goals for short- and long-term strategic marketing focus.
- Staffing & Resourcing Plan: Brought clarity to the firm’s true marketing resource requirements and helped to staff and source against these roles.
- Brand Refresh: Led a brand enhancement initiative, resulting in clearer messaging and stronger visual identity.
- New Business Introduction: Supported the Redpath team in the launch of a new entity that included a brand identity and website.
- Go-to-Market Planning: Built marketing strategies to help launch and grow two new service offerings.
- LinkedIn Social Strategy: Created a social advocacy program that expanded thought leadership awareness and showcased culture, aiding in recruitment of top talent.
- Internal Collaboration: Partnered closely with Redpath’s leadership team to ensure alignment, remove roadblocks, and establish a marketing rhythm that fit seamlessly within the firm’s EOS framework.
“The best part was how easy it was. I didn’t want to be thinking about marketing all day. I wanted someone I could trust to take the reins and run with it. That’s exactly what [our Authentic CMO] did.”
